Sell Event Tickets From Your Own Events Page

On the Growth plan and above, every venue gets a public events page once Events is switched on. Create an event, add paid tickets or free RSVPs, and guests buy by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The money goes to your own Stripe account, each buyer gets a QR ticket by email, and your door staff check them in from a phone. Buyers join your guest list, so the people who came to the last event are the people you email about the next one.

The Problem

Most venues sell tickets through a separate ticketing site. The buyer list stays in that system, the fees are set by someone else, and the guest who bought a ticket last month is a stranger to your WiFi marketing when they walk in.

The CaptiFi Solution

CaptiFi puts ticketing inside the platform that already holds your guest list. You publish events on your venue's own page, buyers pay your Stripe account directly, and every buyer is added to your guests with a Bought a ticket marker for campaigns and segments. A per-ticket booking fee covers card processing, free tickets carry no fee, and you choose whether the buyer sees it.

Key Benefits

A public events page for each venue, listing upcoming events with a From price, Free or Sold out on each

Paid tickets and free RSVPs on the same event, with up to 12 ticket types, each with its own quantity, per-order limits and sales window

Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout, charged to your venue's own Stripe account: your name on the statement, and Stripe pays you out

A booking fee per paid ticket that steps down as the price rises, card processing included, nothing on free tickets, and you choose whether the buyer pays it

One QR code per ticket in the confirmation email, and door check-in from any phone that admits each ticket once

Buyers join your guest list and the Bought a ticket segment, your next event shows on the WiFi connected screen, and a widget puts your events on your own website

What is CaptiFi Events?

CaptiFi Events gives each venue a public events page at app.captifi.io/events/your-venue. You create an event, add ticket types that are paid or free, and publish it. Guests buy on that page by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, receive an email with one QR code per ticket, appear in your guest list, and are checked in at the door from a phone. Events is included on the Growth plan and above, and the account holder switches it on from the Integrations page.

Who receives the ticket money?

Your venue does. Paid tickets are charged to your venue's own Stripe account through Stripe Connect. Your venue is the merchant, its name is on the buyer's card statement, and Stripe pays the money out to your bank on the schedule set in your Stripe dashboard. CaptiFi never holds ticket money. On each paid ticket CaptiFi takes a booking fee from the payment, with card processing included in that fee.

Do I need a Stripe account for a free event?

No. Free tickets and RSVPs never touch Stripe. An event whose ticket types are all free publishes without a Stripe account and carries no fee. Connecting Stripe and accepting the fee terms are only needed before the first paid ticket goes on sale.

CaptiFi is a guest WiFi marketing platform for venues, restaurants, hotels, cafés, retail spaces and short-term rentals. It turns branded WiFi logins into first-party customer data, automated Google review requests, repeat visitor insights and email marketing lists.

How it works

How to sell tickets to an event with CaptiFi

1

Switch Events on

The account holder opens Integrations in the dashboard and switches on the Events and tickets card. An Events group appears in the sidebar. Events is included on the Growth plan and above.

2

Connect Stripe for paid tickets

Under Events settings, click Connect with Stripe and finish Stripe's onboarding for the venue, then accept the booking fee terms once for the account. Free tickets and RSVPs need neither step.

3

Create the event and its ticket types

Give the event a name, description, image link and start time in the venue's timezone, then add up to 12 ticket types. Enter 0 for a free ticket; under a paid price the form shows the booking fee per ticket.

4

Publish

Click Publish. The event goes on sale on your venue's events page, and a Public page link opens it so you can check what buyers see.

5

Sell tickets

Buyers pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay and get an email with one QR code per ticket. The payment settles to your Stripe account, and each buyer is added to your guests with a Bought a ticket marker.

6

Run the door from a phone

On the night, open Door check-in on a phone, pick the event, and scan the QR code or type the ticket number. Each ticket admits once, and a mistaken admit can be undone for five minutes.

What venues get

From the events page to the door

Events, orders, Stripe setup and the door on both dashboards, app.captifi.io and my.captifi.io, with the door page built for a phone.

An events page for each venue

One public page per venue listing upcoming public events with a From price, Free or Sold out on each. An event can also be Unlisted, reachable only by its link. Each event page shows when and where it is, the description and every ticket type with its price, and says how many are left once 20 or fewer remain.

Paid tickets and free RSVPs

Up to 12 ticket types on an event, each with its own quantity, per-order limits from 1 to 100 and its own sales window. Enter 0 for a free ticket. Tickets are held for ten minutes during checkout and go back on sale if the buyer walks away, with nothing charged.

Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay

Buyers pay on the event page and the charge goes to your venue's Stripe account. If the tickets sell out while a payment is still processing, or the event is cancelled before it completes, the payment is refunded straight away and the buyer is told why.

QR tickets by email

The confirmation email carries one QR code per ticket with its ticket number, the order number, when and where, the doors time, the booking fee when the buyer paid it, the total paid and a Manage your order link. The order page adds an Add to calendar file and a Resend confirmation email button.

Door check-in from a phone

Door staff open Door check-in on a phone, pick the event, and scan the QR code or type the ticket or order number. They get a large green Admitted or a red refusal that says why. Each ticket admits one person once, from any phone, and a mistaken admit can be undone for five minutes by the person who made it.

Buyers in your guest list

Every buyer is added to your guests, tagged as a ticket buyer, with marketing consent recorded only when they ticked the box. The segment builder has Bought a ticket under How they joined, so you can message ticket buyers on their own. Buyers never count as a WiFi visit until they connect at the venue.

Your next event on the WiFi connected screen

When a guest connects at a venue with an events page on the splash, the connected screen shows the venue's next event: Tonight at your venue, the event name, doors or start time, a line about it and a See tickets button that opens the event page. Venues with nothing in the next seven days see the plain connected screen.

A widget for your own website

On the classic dashboard, Events settings has an Embed on your website panel with a snippet to paste into any page. Visitors see your upcoming events and each event's tickets in a light or dark look with your accent colour, and Get tickets opens the event page on CaptiFi in a new tab, where card, Apple Pay and Google Pay work as usual. You choose which website addresses may show it, and the account holder can issue a new embed key at any time.

Pricing

The booking fee

Events is included on the Growth plan and above, and the booking fee on paid tickets is the only charge for it. The fee is charged per paid ticket: the whole ticket price is charged at the rate of the band it falls in, never below the minimum for the currency, rounded to the nearest penny or cent. Card processing is included, so there is no separate Stripe processing charge to you. A free ticket carries no fee at all.

Currency 7.5% up to 6% up to 4.5% above Minimum fee per paid ticket Lowest paid ticket price
GBP £20.00 £50.00 £50.00 £0.30 £0.30
USD $25.00 $65.00 $65.00 $0.40 $0.50
EUR €25.00 €60.00 €60.00 €0.35 €0.50
CAD C$35.00 C$85.00 C$85.00 C$0.50 C$0.50
AUD A$40.00 A$100.00 A$100.00 A$0.50 A$0.50
NZD NZ$40.00 NZ$110.00 NZ$110.00 NZ$0.60 NZ$0.60

A paid ticket cannot be priced below the lowest paid price in the last column; the ticket type form refuses it. The same schedule is shown on the Payments page in your dashboard with your venue's currency picked out.

Worked figures

The fee on one ticket at four prices, in each currency. Below the crossover with the minimum the minimum applies, which is why a 5.00 ticket carries 0.40 in US dollars, 0.50 in Canadian and Australian dollars and 0.60 in New Zealand dollars.

Ticket price 5.00 15.00 45.00 100.00
Fee in GBP £0.38 £1.13 £2.70 £4.50
Fee in USD $0.40 $1.13 $2.70 $4.50
Fee in EUR €0.38 €1.13 €2.70 €4.50
Fee in CAD C$0.50 C$1.13 C$2.70 C$4.50
Fee in AUD A$0.50 A$1.13 A$2.70 A$6.00
Fee in NZD NZ$0.60 NZ$1.13 NZ$2.70 NZ$6.00

Passed on to the buyer

The default. The buyer pays the ticket price plus the fee and sees a Booking fee line at checkout, and the full ticket price settles to your Stripe account. The fee is worked out per ticket, so two tickets on one order carry two fees.

Absorbed by the venue

The buyer pays the ticket price and no fee line appears. The face value minus the fee settles to your Stripe account. Each order keeps the mode it was bought under, so changing the mode affects new orders only.

The account holder accepts the booking fee terms once, and one acceptance covers every venue on the account. Full detail, including Stripe statuses and payouts, is in the Ticket payments guide. Setting up events is covered in the Events guide and the night itself in the Door check-in guide.

FAQs

Events and ticketing questions answered

How much does it cost to sell tickets with CaptiFi?
Events is included on the Growth plan and above. On each paid ticket CaptiFi takes a booking fee from the payment: 7.5 percent on lower prices, 6 percent in the middle band and 4.5 percent above it, with the thresholds and a minimum fee set per currency in GBP, USD, EUR, CAD, AUD and NZD. Card processing is included in that fee, and free tickets and RSVPs carry no fee at all.
Who receives the money from ticket sales?
Your venue does. Paid tickets are charged to your venue's own Stripe account, so your venue is the merchant, its name appears on the buyer's card statement, and Stripe pays out to your bank on the schedule set in your Stripe dashboard. CaptiFi never holds ticket money.
Can I pass the booking fee on to the buyer?
Yes. Each venue chooses one of two modes. Passed on to the buyer, the default, adds a Booking fee line at checkout and the full ticket price settles to your Stripe account. Absorbed by the venue shows the buyer the ticket price alone and you receive the face value minus the fee. The fee is the same in both modes, and each order keeps the mode it was bought under.
Do I need a Stripe account to take free RSVPs?
No. Free tickets and RSVPs never touch Stripe. An event whose ticket types are all free publishes without a connected Stripe account. The account holder connects Stripe and accepts the fee terms once before the first paid ticket goes on sale.
Can buyers pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay?
Yes. Checkout takes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay on the public event page. A buyer who arrives from the widget on your own website gets the same checkout, because Get tickets opens the CaptiFi event page in a new tab.
How does door check-in work?
Door staff log in to the dashboard on a phone, open Door check-in and pick the event. They scan the QR code on the guest's ticket or type the ticket or order number, and the page answers with a green Admitted or a red refusal that says why, such as already checked in or a ticket for another event. Each ticket admits one person once from any phone, and the person who admitted a ticket can undo it within five minutes.
Do ticket buyers join my WiFi marketing list?
Every buyer is added to your guest list, tagged as a ticket buyer, with marketing consent recorded only when they ticked the box at checkout. The segment builder has Bought a ticket under How they joined, so you can send a campaign to ticket buyers on their own. Buyers do not count as a WiFi visit or against your monthly guest allowance until they connect to your WiFi.
Can I show my events on my own website?
Yes. On the classic dashboard, Events settings has an Embed on your website panel with a snippet to paste into any page. Visitors see your upcoming events and each event's tickets in a light or dark look with your accent colour. You choose which website addresses may show it, and the account holder can issue a new embed key at any time, which stops every copy of the old snippet.

CaptiFi completely changed my business. Before, every guest was a one-time booking. Now I have a direct line to thousands of people who've stayed in the plane. I can offer them return deals, send updates about new features, and keep them engaged. My repeat booking rate went from almost zero to 35%. It's been incredible.
