About Skiddle

What is Skiddle?

Skiddle is a UK events listing site and ticket agent, strongest in club nights, gigs and festivals, where promoters list events for its audience to discover and buy. Its default booking fee, as stated in its Promotion Centre help article read on 21 September 2026, is 10% of the ticket face value plus 27p, with a minimum booking fee of GBP1, paid by the customer on top of the face value by default; a promoter can choose to absorb it instead, at which point it becomes a commission taken from ticket revenue. CaptiFi sells tickets from your own event page to the guest list your WiFi has built, at 7.5% up to GBP20, 6% up to GBP50 and 4.5% above that with card processing included, paid into your own Stripe account, and puts every buyer into that list. It has no listings audience.

Skiddle strengths

  • A UK discovery audience actively searching for club nights, gigs and festivals
  • Promoter tools built for the late-night market, including guest lists and rep sales
  • The customer pays the fee by default, so the promoter's face value is untouched
  • No monthly fee to list; the booking fee is the price
  • Long-established in UK nightlife, so buyers know the checkout

Where CaptiFi differs

  • The highest published fee of the platforms compared here: 10% plus 27p with a GBP1 minimum (Skiddle Promotion Centre, read 21 September 2026)
  • The GBP1 minimum makes cheap tickets expensive: a GBP5 ticket carries a 20% fee
  • Buyers are Skiddle's audience first; the venue gets the attendee list for that one event
  • No guest WiFi layer, so the people who walk in without a ticket are never captured
  • Discovery works for the night it is listed; it does not tell a regular at the bar tonight about next month
Who should pick what

Honest recommendations

Pick Skiddle if

Promoters running club nights or gigs for an audience that does not know the venue yet, where being found on a nightlife listings site is the point and a 10% fee is the cost of that reach.

Pick CaptiFi if

Venues with regulars: the pub with a monthly comedy night or the market hall with a ticketed tasting. The audience is already in the building on other nights, the WiFi has their details, and a lower fee paid into your own Stripe account is a better deal than a finder's fee for people who already know the door.
